Prime Minister Perry Christie said the new $4 billion Resorts World hotel in Las Vegas will provide economic benefits for that city and The Bahamas.
The prime minister made this statement yesterday at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Resorts World hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Christie explained that during his one day visit to Las Vegas, he had a discussion with Resorts World Chairman Tan Sri Lim regarding further measures to enhance and grow their development in Bimini, which has become one of The Bahamas’ leading Family Island resorts.
He said the iconic mega project which Resorts World is undertaking in Las Vegas will complement the company’s investments in The Bahamas because the company will be able to market to millions of patrons in Las Vegas.
This would provide a different experience at the Resorts Word in Bimini, allowing their cruise ships to sail on Bahamian waters, the prime minister added.
Resorts World has several cruise lines including Star Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Crystal Cruise Lines.
According to Christie, Norwegian Cruise Line is playing an increasing role with its new ships in establishing The Bahamas as the largest cruise destination from the United States.
“We hope to be able also in the near future to attract their luxury crystal cruise ships to The Bahamas,” he said.
Resorts World has invested about $500 million in its hotel in Bimini to expand the residential resort and marina complex that includes a new casino and newly opened Hilton branded hotel.
It also includes a deep water docking facility to accommodate the Bimini Superfast, a luxury cruise ship ferry that crosses the Gulf Stream from South Florida to Bimini in three hours, along with other amenities.
The $4 billion iconic Resorts World hotel in Las Vegas will open in 2017 and will become one of the foremost attractions in the gaming, entertainment and convention capital of the United States.
