Braving inclement weather, CIBC FirstCaribbean staff from across the region, along with supporters of CIBC’s Annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure on Saturday participated in a walk/run, raising over $30 million for the ongoing fight against cancer.
Managing Director, Customer Relationship Management and Strategy, Trevor Torzsas, who walked along with his family, said “At CIBC FirstCaribbean, we are pleased to walk – even in inclement weather – to demonstrate that we have joined the fight against cancer, a disease that has touched and continues to touch so many of our lives.
Your joining us here this morning is phenomenal. You and other participants from 18 countries are a part of an organisation-wide commitment to work toward a world free of cancer.”
In The Bahamas, walkers began at Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre, along the new Cable Beach strip to the Cable Beach Post Office and back to Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre.
In total, over 170,000 people across the 17 countries and territories in which CIBC FirstCaribbean operates, including The Bahamas, and the bank’s parent company, CIBC, Canada.
While this was the inaugural CIBC FirstCaribbean Fun Walk held in The Bahamas for this cause, it builds on 16 years of commitment by CIBC to be in the forefront of supporting cancer research.
There are plans for a bigger and better event in 2013.
