Four men were arraigned yesterday, one who pleaded guilty and the others not guilty before Magistrate Constance Delancey on dangerous drugs, firearms and ammunition possession charges.
Kenny Riguard, 46, 41-year-old Delvon Knowles; 45-year-old Franky Pierre and 37-year-old Keith Major were each charged with one count possession of a prohibited weapon, which was a black ak47 assault rifle , one count unlicensed firearm possession which was a black pistol , two counts of possession of ammunition and one count possession of dangerous drugs.
The prosecutor said particulars were that on Thursday the September 29, around 5:20 a.m. officers while at Cabbage Beach, Long Island executed a search warrant at a residence there.
Upon entering the home, they found the two weapons, ammunition and four grams of what was believed to be marijuana.
All of the men pleaded not guilty except for Major.
Major pleaded guilty to all charges and confessed that the drugs were his.
The Magistrate asked Mr. Major if he had accepted the summary of events and he replied, “Yes.”
He further told police upon being questioned while in New Providence that he had been smoking for the last several years and also confessed that housing the weapons was a silly mistake.
His representative asked Magistrate Delancey when making her decision to take into consideration the fact that major was not a previous offender, a father of six, a husband, and the sole breadwinner of the family.
Following the males representatives plea to the courts, the magistrate stood the matter down until 4pm.
After about an hour, Magistrate Delancey sentenced Major to six months imprisonment for the drug possession charges and five years for the firearms and ammunition charges. The remaining three suspects were remanded to the Bahamas Corrections Department and will return to court on December 1st.
