Prison Superintendent Dr. Elliston Rahming may be on his way to Washington to take up an ambassadorial post, but who will replace him at the helm of Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) remains a mystery.
Dr. Rahming is slated to leave next month.
However, when asked who would assume the top position at the Fox Hill facility, Prime Minister Perry Christie declined to say.
“There are a number of persons under consideration. Until such time as that decision is made with respect to the person who will be nominated, I will just reserve my position on the matter,” Mr. Christie told reporters yesterday.
A trained criminologist, Dr. Rahming replaced Edwin Culmer as prison superintendent.
Dr. Rahming has served in this capacity for the past eight years.
During his tenure, he has pushed the idea of transforming from a punitive to a correctional facility.
