Supreme Court Justice Bernard Turner has ordered a new trial in the case of two alleged armed robbers after one of the accused was killed last Monday.
Justice Turner discharged the jury in the armed robbery trial of Theophilus Lloyd and Lamar Roberts on Friday, only days after the latter was killed in Pinewood Gardens.
According to police, two men hopped out of a charcoal coloured Suzuki SUV and opened fire on Roberts.
He tried to run away, but the men continued chasing him and firing shots.
The chase ended in the front yard of a house at the end of the corner where Roberts, who at the time was wearing an ankle bracelet, collapsed and died.
He was shot multiple times about the upper body, including his head.
Roberts and Lloyd are accused of a 2010 armed robbery.
Lloyd’s retrial is now expected to take place in February.
He has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) until that time.
