Residents Wednesday afternoon unexpectedly found themselves without power due to generation issues at Bahamas Power and Light Company (BPL).
According to BPL, the widespread power outages came as a result of generation challenges and around 3:00 pm the company issued a statement saying a number of areas would be without power for about two hours.
Similar occurrences took place twice last month when the company admitted to experiencing generation shortfalls leaving the entire island blacked out.
Those areas affected by yesterday’s power outage included, that included SW Plaza, Golden Gates 1 & 2, Cordeaux Ave, Key West St, Charles Vincent, Balfour Ave, Hay Street, Taylor Street, Milton St, Lilly of the Valley, Ross Corner, Fowler Street, Oakesfield, Davis Street, Warren St, Hawthorne Street, Bernard Road, Adderley Street, Village Road, Eastern Road (to St. Anne’s), Westridge, Sea Beach Estates, Sandyport, Delaporte, Blue Hill Road South of Carmichael, and all side streets.
Earlier, other areas also experienced load shedding.
Those areas included Blue Hill Road North, Coral Harbour, Imperial Park, Soldier Road East of Sea Breeze, Yamacraw Beach Estates, Joe Farrington Road, Prince Charles Drive (from Blanco Bleach to Sea Breeze), Golden Gates 1 & 2, Cordeaux Ave, Key West St, Charles Vincent Street, Balfour Ave, Hay Street, Taylor Street, Milton Street, Lilly of the Valley Corner, Ross Corner, Fowler Street, and all side streets
BPL apologized to its customers and assured the patrons that they would work as expeditiously as possible to rectify and improve generation capacity as soon as possible.
