Murder Toll Hits 54

Detectives in New Providence and Grand Bahama are investigating the country’s latest homicides – the 53rd and 54th for the year.

In New Providence, shortly after 11:00 Monday night, police reported that a man had just arrived at a home on Goggle Eye Road off Soldier Road when he was approached by a gunman who shot him multiple times.

Police said the culprit was wearing a red and blue Tommy hooded jacket and short blue pants.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

An official identification is expected today.

Meanwhile, police over in Grand Bahama are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred in the Pinedale area of Eight Mile Rock.

A 46-year-old male resident of Hanna Hill was killed.

Officers from the Eight Mile Rock division were called to the scene around 10:15 Monday night where the man’s body was found with stab wounds to the upper right back.

This is the island’s fifth homicide for the year.

Grand Bahama police are appealing to members of the public who may live in the area and may have any information to contact them at 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5 or 911.

There have been 12 homicides recorded so far this month.

Seven of those homicides occurred last week.
