Two murder suspects who police believe are behind two of the country’s latest murders are expected to answer to the charges in a Magistrates Court today.
According to police officials a 26-year-old man of Yellow Elder Gardens will be arraigned for the murder of 33-year-old mother of four Nadia Cartwright.
It was around 2:30 a.m. Monday August 11 that Cartwright was riding on a trail motorbike with a male when she was shot to the head during an armed robbery.
In a separate case a 20-year-old male resident of Dunmore Street is expected to be charged with the August 2 murder of high school student 16-year-old Carlos Taylor.
The C.R. Walker Senior High School student was shot to death just after midnight that Saturday.
According to police, gunshots were heard in the area of Dunmore and Flemming Streets however; when they arrived they met Taylor’s lifeless body lying in the street.
Taylor was shot several times about the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two More Murder Suspects Arrested
Two men are now in custody for one of the country’s most recent homicides.
According to police, Flying Squad officers acting on intelligence arrested a 23-year-old man of Cordeaux Avenue and a 20-year-old man of Second Street, The Grove.
They are being questioned in reference to the murder of 26-year-old Ryan Smith.
Smith was fatally shot multiple times last Tuesday on Sumner’s Way.
Smith’s lifeless body was found along a tract road in an area just off Soldier Road around 7:00 a.m., but police believe he may have been killed sometime Monday evening.
“Our information tells us that around 9:00 Monday night, people reported hearing gunshots in this immediate area and so we want to believe that this incident may have happened around that time,” Superintendent Paul Rolle told reporters at the time.
Smith was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was clad in a red shirt, black short pants and grey sneakers.
Police believe that he may have been involved with the murders of two women that occurred last week as well.
Meanwhile, Flying Squad officers also arrested two men – ages 29 years and 18 years – both of Yellow Elder for questioning reference to the murder of Leonaise Jones.
Jones was shot and killed by bandits, who fired shots into her bedroom around 4:00 a.m. on January 4.
