Less than 48 hours after a man was found stabbed to death on Rosebud Street,
Farrington Road, police have a suspect in custody believed to be responsible for his
death.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023 a 52-year-old male resident of Rosebud Street was
found by a female resident unresponsive just outside her home. When officers arrived
on the scene, according to Second Officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) Superintendent Terrico Sweeting, they found the victim with stab
wounds to the upper body.
He was pronounced dead by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel on the
scene.
On Tuesday, during a press briefing at the Paul Farquharson Conference Centre,
Police Headquarters Supt. Sweeting said that with the help of members of the
Chippingham community a suspect was arrested.
“I’m pleased to report that, of course, with the help of persons within the community,
I pleaded with the members of the public on [Saturday] afternoon to please come
forward and assist us with any information that can help us with our investigation;
persons in that community did just that.
“And so, armed with the information that they gave us we were able to take a person
into custody late yesterday [Monday] evening and he is now assisting us with our
investigation.
“I can say that where we are at, at this time, it seems inevitable that this person will be
charged with respect to that homicide,” Supt. Sweeting said.
While he could not divulge whether the suspect and the victim were of any relation or
known to each other, or whether the incident may have been drugs of gang related,
Supt, Sweeting did say that the suspect, who is in his mid-20’s is known to the police.
On the heels of the stabbing in the Chippingham area, police launched an
investigation into a shooting that resulted in the death of a 31-year-old male of Yellow
Elder Gardens.

The victim was gunned down just outside of his home on East Storr Court, Yellow
Elder.
According to the police report, the victim and a female had just arrived at the home
when two masked men in dark clothing exited a dark-colored Japanese vehicle and
opened fire on them while they were in their vehicle, a silver Chevy Malibu.
The victim, who was shot multiple times, was found lying on the outside the driver’s
side of his vehicle. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) responded to the scene
and confirmed there were no signs of life. The female was also examined, and it was
discovered that she received a superficial wound to the lower abdomen.
The suspects fled the area travelling west on East Storr Court, making good on their
escape.
“Last evening [Monday] we had another homicide in the Yellow Elder community;
and we would also like to say that we need the help of members of that community to
come forward and give us some help to find out what exactly who may have been
responsible for that homicide,” Supt. Sweeting said at the same press conference.
