The man police believe is responsible for last month’s murder of 33-year-old Jermaine Russell alias ‘Timer’ was arraigned yesterday in the Magistrate’s Court.
Twenty-seven-year-old Mark Augustine appeared in Court Number 11 before Magistrate Sabu Swain to answer to the murder charge.
Russell was shot several times shortly after 3:00 a.m. on July 27 through Apple and Peach Streets by a man armed with a handgun.
Russell was in the area exiting a club at the time when he was shot.
Augustine, a resident of Union Village, was not required to enter a plea to the charge and was denied bail.
The matter will be fast tracked to the Supreme Court via a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
Augustine will next appear in court on October 14.
Russell was known to police.
He had been charged in 2012 with involvement in a conspiracy to kill Stephen Sherman, who was shot dead outside his Yamacraw Shores home on February 17, 2012.
The charge against him was eventually dropped.
