The Ministry of Education is putting funds left over from the last budget to good use by repairs, according to Press Secretary, Anthony Newbold.
“The entire education plant is old and truth is, there really ought to be some new schools built, but we must do a better job in maintaining what we have,” he said.
While a new high school is to be built in Southwest New Providence, the Press Secretary reiterated the government’s plan to place equal focus on preschoolers.
“Greater emphasis is going to be placed in providing accommodations for preschools. In fact, that’s going to be a focus looking at all of the public schools, to ensure that there is a space for preschools.”
Meantime, The Ministry of Education is to host a forum today at The British Colonial Hilton, under the theme: Moving from Policy to Implementation – A Stakeholders Perspective.
According to Press Secretary, Anthony Newbold, the goal is to have an involved discussion on the government’s vision and the ministry’s key initiatives, in order to produce an action plan for the advancement of education going forward.
Mr.Newbold added that there would be a strong emphasis on preschool education, as it is critical to get a hold of students while they are young, to create the necessary mindset required from the new generation of citizens.
The forum is open to the public, and all are invited to attend.
