Two men were hauled before the Magistrate’s Court and charged with murder in two separate incidents on Monday.
Twenty-three year old Berlin Bullard was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt for intentionally and unlawfully causing the death of Kevin Storr on February 17, 2020.
During his arraignment, his attorney asked for his client to be seen by a medical practitioner for bruises to the face that he claimed was not there before his questioning at the Central Detective Unit.
His attorney also asked for his client to be placed in a safe area of the prison.
Bullard was denied bail and was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections. He returns to court on April 15 for a presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Upon his request, the chief magistrate ordered that he be seen by a doctor upon his return to the Bahamas Department of Corrections.
Another man, 18 year old Javado Adderley was also charged with murder.
It is alleged that on February 19, Adderley intentionally and unlawfully caused the death of Waldez McKinney on Wilson Track.
During his arraignment, Adderley’s lawyer Christina Galanos alleged that while in police custody, her client was slapped by police and kicked three times by an officer in plain clothes, whom he is unable to identify.
She added that Adderley is asthmatic and needs to be in possession of an inhaler.
Adderley was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections.
He returns to court on May 13 at noon for a VBI.
