Phase one of the Melia Nassau Beach property’s $19 million renovation plan has begun with the expectation that everything will be complete by November.
According to officials, renovations throughout the entire Cable Beach resort should be finished by early 2016.
“The resort will remain open throughout the redesign with minimal interruptions to the guest experience,” officials assured in a release on Tuesday.
News of Melia’s multi-million upgrade comes only days after Baha Mar executives acknowledged that that much anticipated property’s Winter 2014 grand opening had been pushed back to Spring 2015.
A letter leaked to the media revealed that a “preview session” will begin at Baha Mar in December.
“We are in the process of determining what areas will be open at specific dates between December and the grand opening celebration. We’re working through the details with our partners and expect to know more by December,” Baha Mar’s President Tom Dunlap explained at the time.
Melia, once renovated, will be Baha Mar’s only upscale all inclusive resort, boasting 694 luxury.
According to officials, the upscale hotel will introduce guests to The Level, a signature service by Meliá Hotels & Resorts offering exclusive experiences, select room categories, a private pool and beach area, a separate check-in area and preferred reservations for à la carte restaurants and other activities.
The hotel’s redesign also calls for expanding the terrace at the Market Place to exude a more Caribbean feel
To round out the offerings, Meliá Nassau Beach will add five signature eateries among them Cilantro, Nikkei, The Black Angus and Estavida.
Meantime, Baha Mar’s overall $3.6 billion experience will feature a 100,000 square foot casino, an 18-hole 72-par Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and more than 12 pools.
The resort is expected to hire around 4,000 people prior to actually opening.
