Man Dies On Mailboat

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man’s death on a mail boat moored at Smiths Bay in Cat Island on Sunday.

Reports are that sometime during Saturday evening the boat left San Salvador in route to New Providence with five crewmembers onboard.

 However, shortly after 1:00 a.m. Sunday the boat began to take on water and was diverted to Cat Island.

 When the boat was found, one of the men had died, three were found unconscious with smoke inhalation.

 The three men were taken to hospital where they were treated and later discharged.

 Meanwhile, police are also probing a drowning death in Long Island.

 According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. Sunday when two men and a juvenile male were on a fishing trip at Turn Ball Beach off Long Island.

 One of the men drowned.

 Investigations are ongoing.
