Major Drug Busts; No Arrests

Police may have the drugs in hand but they still have to find the owners behind two recent busts.

In the first instance, Grand Bahama police were conducting road checks in the area of Settlers Way around 1:30p.m Wednesday when they spotted a white 2005 Oldsmobile Alero, whose occupant was acting suspiciously.

The suspect reportedly made attempts to avoid capture when beckoned by police to stop.

Officers pursued the vehicle that eventually came to a stop in bushes on East Indian Man and Balao Roads. However, the suspect escaped.

A search of the vehicle revealed five red gallon buckets containing nine square taped packages of suspected cocaine.

The drugs and vehicle were confiscated by police. Authorities said the drugs have an estimated street value of $225,000.

Eleuthera police meantime confiscated 25 marijuana plants from a property at James Cistern on Tuesday.

Police said the plants were taken from a property that was 450 feet off the road.

No arrests were made in connection with this incident.

Active investigations continue in both matters.
