Outgoing Immigration Director Jack Thompson has been removed from that post and reassigned to the Cabinet Office.
The prime minister on Monday announced that that Mr. Thompson has been reassigned to the Cabinet Office “with particular directions to assume the chief administrator position in the secretariat for the country’s 40th anniversary committee with immediate effect,” Prime Minister Perry Christie said.
The prime minister also announced that longtimeImmigration Officer William Pratt is the department’s new acting director.
There has been no indication as to whether or not Mr. Thompson would return to his post in immigration after his stint on that anniversary committee.
Mr. Thompson became the director of immigration four years ago.
Before then, he served as road traffic controller.
