Homicide and Traffic Fatality Recorded

Police in Abaco are continuing their investigations into a traffic accident that claimed the life of a Spring City resident in Abaco.

According to reports, just after 4:53 Sunday morning, officers from the Marsh Harbour Police Station were notified of a traffic accident that occurred on Don McKay Boulevard.

A 26-year-old resident of Murphy Town was traveling north on the boulevard in his vehicle and a 25-year-old male motorcyclist of Spring City was traveling south when the collision occurred.

A doctor gave medical assistance to the cyclist at the crash site, however he died at the scene.

Active investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the country has recorded its 58th homicide for the year.

According to police, last Friday, around 11:25 p.m. a shooting incident occurred on Joe Farrington Road.

Initial reports indicated that the 39-year-old male victim was through Joe Farrington Road when he was approached by a man and subsequently shot.

However, just before 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, the man died as a result of those injuries.

Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding this incident to contact them at 919, 322-3333/4, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991, 502-9910 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 328-TIPS.

This is the 16th homicide this month.
