With the theme “Turning Dreams into Reality” Commissioner of Police, Ellison Greenslade urged the 2015 elementary school graduates of Temple Christian and young persons in general to be themselves and focus on the heart.
“The old people say you have a heart and when you take brain power and you take heart power you can dream big dreams, you can accomplish big things, you can be anything you want to,” he said.
“Please decide to be good and do good, that fixes a lot of things.”
Also reflecting on his own adolescent years, Commissioner Greenslade reminded those in attendance that in this day and age, it is not education alone that will render you successful but manners as well.
“My mother was right; she said manners and respect will carry us around the world. Look at what God has done for me, look at where God has brought me because of my right attitude, for my behaviour and my respect.”
During the ceremony he also made special note of a key individual who works closely with him.
His executive secretary, whom he pointed out to students, was more than just an assistant commissioner, but a lawyer.
He used this individual as an example to further portray, based on his past, that although he was seemingly destined for nothing, he put his mind to what he wanted to achieve and reached his goals.
Commissioner Greenslade was the guest speaker for the some 80 plus graduates at Evangelistic Temple on Tuesday morning.
