Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a traffic fatality that has left a 31-year-old male and a 22-year-old female dead.
Reports are that on Tuesday, shortly after 1 a.m., police were called to an area on Ponce De Leon Drive and Wellington Street, where they met a blue 2006 Chevy Malibu vehicle that ran into a residential wall, lying on its top, extensively damaged with four passengers trapped inside.
Officers of the Fire Branch and Traffic Department were called to the scene along with EMS personnel, where the Jaws of Life was used to extricate the victims from the vehicle.
Two passengers, the driver of the vehicle and a passenger, succumbed to injuries at the scene.
The two other remaining passengers, a male and a female, were taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital where they are said to be listed in critical condition.
Investigations are continuing and police are sending a strong warning to the motoring public to always buckle up and to drive within the speed limit.
Police are also urging the motoring public to refrain from drinking and driving.
