The country’s traffic fatality count moved up four notches to 24 within the last week after three men and a woman were killed in separate accidents.
The most recent accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
A 19-year-old woman was killed.
According to police, two people in a 1999 Honda Odyssey van was traveling east along Marshall Road, when the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole and flipped over.
The driver was unharmed during the incident.
However, the front seat passenger sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
This latest accident marked the third over a three-day span.
On Friday around 3:45 p.m., a 45-year-old Eastwood Estates man was driving a white 2009 Suzuki van east along Joe Farrington Road.
Police said the man lost control of his car and collided into a utility pole.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile a 23-year-old South Beach mean died in a traffic accident Thursday night.
That incident occurred around 11:45 p.m.
The Journal understands that the victim was heading west along St. Vincent Road in a red and white Honda 650cc when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided into a white F-150 truck.
He was taken to hospital; however, he died Friday morning.
That incident happened just hours after the Ministry of Transport re-launched its National Road Safety Strategy, which places emphasis on road safety.
Sixteen-year-old Jimeco Brown of Fifth Street the Grove was killed last week Sunday, after he lost control of the 2004 Honda accord he was driving and collided into a utility pole.
The car split in two and the lamp pole was broken in half.
Nineteen of the 24 traffic fatalities happened in New Providence.
