Four men were on Friday charged with murdering an American tourist.
Jamaal Dorfevil, 28; Anton Bastian,19; Craig Johnson, 20 and Marcellus Williams, 21, were escorted to court shackle bound.
They stood side by side stood before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez and were charged collectively on three counts – the first was the murder of American sailor Kyle Bruner.
The 34-year-old Chicago resident was killed on May 12.
Bruner was shot in the neck at 4:00 a.m. while trying to protect a woman who was being robbed of her purse.
The group also faced two armed robbery charges.
The men are accused of robbing Jane Robinson of a $130 green handbag and a $900 iPhone.
They were also accused of robbing Hayley Sayer of a $120 black handbag, a $300 iPhone and $30 in cash.
Bastian also racked up an extra armed robbery charge.
According to court dockets, he robbed Jenny Pinder of a blue iPad and a Gucci watch on April 31.
Bastian was represented by attorney Roberto Reckley, while Craig Johnson was represented by Nathan Smith.
In the courtroom, Johnson’s mother began crying as the charges were read, during which he turned around and said, “Don’t cry mummy. I didn’t do anything.”
The men were not required to enter a plea and were remanded to prison.
They are expected to return to court on June 10 via a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Meantime, the search continues for Leo Bethel, a fifth suspect wanted in connection with this murder.
Shortly after that case, 40-year-old Marvin Davis was charged with one count of rape and two counts of armed robbery.
Court dockets indicate that on Friday May 3 he had sexual intercourse with a 32-year-old woman without her consent and later robbed her of a gold chain.
He is also accused of robbing Derika Rolle of a Blackberry Curve and $500 cash on May 13.
He was not required to enter a plea and was denied bail as it could not be granted in the magistrates’ court.
His case will be forwarded to the Supreme Court via a VBI on July 18.
