Arson has been ruled as the cause of a fire on Andros Tuesday afternoon that destroyed a restaurant and nearby church, said Head of Police Fire Services Superintendent Walter Evans.
The fire which seemed spread quickly started shortly after noon Tuesday at a restaurant in the North Andros settlement of Nicholl’s Town.
It took only a short while before the entire building was engulfed in flames, Supt. Evans said.
Shortly afterwards, he said, the fire spread to the nearby church.
Supt. Evans said the cost of damage had not yet been determined.
A team of officers from New Providence have traveled to North Andros to investigate this incident.
