Beach Education, in association with The British High Commission, will host its
first UK Education Fair in The Bahamas on Saturday.
The fair will consist of the UK’s most outstanding schools and scholarship
attainment. The criteria for scholarships are based on academic excellence, family
income, and sports or art merit.
More than 12 schools and two prominent universities will be showcases. Some of
the featured schools include Royal Hospital School- one of UK’s top sailing
schools, Wells Cathedral School- one of the best music and chorister schools in the
UK, Queen Ethelburga’s, historic Sherborne and Sherborne Girl’s Schools, and
Taunton School.
The fair will also welcome historic Scottish IB and Golfing School of St.
Leonard’s, Stonar – a school with its own worldclass equestrian centre, Bede’s – a
school known for excelling in football, dance, and cricket, 500-year-old King’s
Burton, and Bedford – the UK’s top all-boy’s school.
Loughborough University, ranked highly for business and engineering and the
world’s best sporting university is said to be featured as well. Alongside them,
UWE Bristol, ranked second for design, sixth for film and photography, and
seventh for aerospace engineering will also be in attendance.
British High Commissioner Thomas Hartley briefly mentioned “his passion for
foresting stronger educational links between The Bahamas and the UK.”
Beach Education Director Fiona Beach said they are excited to showcase a
wonderful diverse group of boarding schools that not only appeals to students in
The Bahamas, but suits different household budgets.
The education fair takes place tomorrow at Margaritaville Resort on Bay Street
from 4 to 7 p.m.
