The two boaters picked up in connection with last Wednesday’s $1.5 million drug bust in waters off Long Island were arraigned Friday and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prisons (HMP).
Amal Rashad Pratt, 24, of Step Street, Fox Hill and Balls Alley resident, Randy Ricardo Munnings, 20, appeared before Magistrate Andrew Forbes to face four drug related charges – possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with intent to supply, important of dangerous drugs and conspiracy to import dangerous drugs.
The first count is alleged to have taken place on Wednesday, April 23 and the remaining three counts between April 16 and April 23.
According to police, the suspects were pursued and arrested on board a go-fast boat.
On board the vessel were some 37 bags of suspected marijuana with an estimated weight of 1,500 lbs.
Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Commander, Superintendent Samuel Butler said it is clear the two men are part of a major drug network and that the drugs came from outside the country.
Due to the nature of the offenses, the two accused were denied bail.
They were instead remanded to HMP and are expected back in court on September 9.
Both suspects were represented by attorney Shaka Serville.
