The captain and crew of a 70ft Dominican fishing vessel who were apprehended just off the Great Bahama Bank last December have since been charged and fined in connection with that large haul.
According to authorities, the catch included 4,374lbs of legal sized crawfish, another 1,337lbs of undersized crawfish, 2lbs of egg bearing crawfish, 687lbs of legal sized Nassau Grouper, 233lbs of under sized Nassau Grouper and 4,125lbs of mixed fish, a total of 10,750lbs of seafood.
The men were consequently slapped with six charges.
The captain was fined $50,000 and each crewmember, $1,000.
Two crew members, who were repeated offenders, were fined another $5,000.
The court collected a total of $96,000 from this latest poaching arrest.
