Court of Appeal (COA) justices have been working despite less than favourable conditions in the Charlotte Street courtroom.
Just a few weeks ago, the court had to cancel all matters because the roof was leaking, which caused some water damage.
The leak has since been confined to a portion of the room just over the clerks’ desk.
The panel, however, has continued to work. On Monday, justices set a hearing date for convicted sexual molester, Andre Birbal.
The panel also continued to hear several civil matters on Tuesday.
The Journal understands that the whole roof may have to be replaced.
Local weather experts have said that there will be heavy rainfall beginning tonight until Saturday.
“If it rains like they predict it will, I don’t know what we will do,” a court source told the Journal.
“The last time it rained heavy we had to close down for one day. That sets the cases we have back and then we have to reschedule and that always presents a problem. This court is really efficient and the panel always keeps the dates once the registrar publishes the listing and that is why they have continued to work.”
