Investigations are underway regarding employee claims of sexual misconduct at the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC).
Workers staged a protest nearly two weeks ago over claims of two separate incidents of sexual misbehavior, according to President of the Bahamas Public Services Union John Pinder.
“The members there at the BAIC have walked out in protest over a number of alleged sexual activities that they are not satisfied with. There appears to be even a written case now or a written statement by one of the male staffers, which suggests that he was sexually assaulted by another male supervisor. There’s some alleged sexual advancements and sexual harassments being made against another senior manager,” Mr. Pinder said.
“The general manager has assured us that a total investigation will be done, and he probably may have to call in the police since it may be bordering on criminal activities,” he added.
Mr. Pinder confirmed that pending investigations have led to one of the organization’s deputy managers being placed on administrative leave.
An internal probe has been launched as a result of the recently received written complaint made by the male worker who claimed he was sexually assaulted by another male supervisor.
