Christian Council Against LGBT Events

The Bahamas Christian Council (BCC) is suiting up to wage a moral war as its President Bishop Delton Fernander made it clear that they are ready to take a stand against the next Pride Bahamas events slated for next year.

Pride Bahamas recently announced its intent to stage a series of LGBT events in October 2020, which Bishop Fernander said the council does not support.

However, the BCC plans to call the country to a national standstill against what it deems a Sodom and Gomorrah moment.

“If they plan to rally, the church will rally and we will see who is on the Lord’s side. If it is, we will fight legally in terms of marriage being between a man and a woman,” Bishop Fernander said.

“If those kinds of constructs come up in the dialogue here in The Bahamas, we are ready and we are willing to mobilize the entire Christian body.

“We are united on this to stand for Christ.”

Bishop Fernander contended that after enduring the worst hurricane in the nation’s history, it’s time to rebuild and to do so, with Christian values.

“We believe that during this period of restoration physically, that it was really bad timing for the pride movement to be focused on themselves rather than the rebuilding of the country,” he said.

“We totally stand on the principals of the Bible and the Bible has said that we believe in the family construct being between a man and a woman.

“We believe that because the Bible has said that this lifestyle is a sin, we cannot and will not support the movement and the parading of the lifestyle in the presence of our society.”

Pride officials said their event will not take the form of a parade, but will instead highlight those who have made advances in the local LGBT community.
