Police in the capital investigate the remains of a man found in bushes off Martin Close, off Cowpen Road yesterday.
Police Press Liaison Shanta Knowles told reporters that officers received word shortly after 12pm yesterday.
Residents of that area have indicated that children were playing in a field nearby when they discovered the body.
She said, “Officers upon discovering this man’s body, noticed that he had injuries to the head and, of course, to the neck area. We are classifying this one as a homicide.”
Neighbors also revealed to the police that two days ago they heard a noise similar to that of firecrackers.
Given that it is the Halloween season, this noise isn’t unfamiliar, therefore the residents did not pay any attention and did not notify police.
The Police Press Liaison also told reporters that it appeared that the body has been laying there for the same amount of time.
Ms. Knowles said, “We suspect the injuries may be consistent with gunshots, but of course, we will have to await an autopsy report to determine that.”
She also said the victim appears to be between the ages of 35 and 40.
In the wake of what seems to be the third murder in 3 days, Ms. Knowles said that the police has beefed up their patrolling to ensure the public’s safety during this Halloween season.
