Leader of the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Branville McCartney, who attended Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival over the weekend, said although the support may have been large in numbers, the idea of a “big party” will not solve the countless issues the country faces on a daily basis.
“We need to look around and see that we are in a state of disrepair,” he said.
“We are in a state where the government promised so many things from crime reduction, job creation and even building the economy and not one of these things has taken place over the last two years. Now, we are out here having a big party and that doesn’t take away from the fact that we have some main and serious concerns. I just need to see something that will truly benefit the Bahamian people.”
Mr. McCartney said the state of The Bahamas is deplorable and Bahamians are turning a blind eye on pressing national issues.
He called for a new government that is honest, transparent, and will do what’s right for not only themselves but the Bahamian people.
“Cronyism is something that has become the norm under the Christie administration,” he said.
“To ask me the state of things, it’s clearly terrible. I pray for this country and that the people will see that it’s time for a new government that is accountable and transparent. We need a government that will think out the box and do what is good to ensure Bahamians are first, to build ministries and to reduce crime. We need to realize that the power of the people is way greater than the people in power.”
Mr. McCartney said his interest is not focused on politics, or the DNA, but on the progression of The Bahamas.
