The Bahamas Bureau of Standards & Quality (BBSQ) and CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards & Quality (CROSQ) are hosting a week of activities, which includes two workshops, attended by the 15 member states of CROSQ at the British Colonial Hilton. On September 19-20, a workshop was held focusing on ‘Developing a 5-Year Regional Standards Development Priority Plan.’ The second workshop, September 21 to 23, has centred on the Twenty-Ninth Technical Management Committee.
The team’s objective is to develop a five-year plan that would provide a framework for CARICOM’s Caribbean Regional Organization for Standards & Quality Secretariat, national standards bodies, CARICOM agencies, regional standards developers, stakeholders, government agencies, private sector organizations and other decision makers towards establishment of relevant harmonized CARICOM regional standards.
The overall purpose is to increase development pace of regional standards for the sustainable production of goods and services in the CARICOM single market economy, and the enhancement of social and economic development throughout the Caribbean.
