BOB Awards Golden Knights

The Bank of The Bahamas (BOB) became the first corporate sponsor to award the country’s Olympic gold medal winning men’s 4×400 metre relay team yesterday when it presented the quartet with cash and prizes totaling $12,000.

The athletes – Chris Brown, Demetrius Pinder, Michael Mathieu and Ramon Miller – have been on a week-long tour since returning from the Summer Olympic Games in London late Monday night.

Yesterday the men were presented with a cheque for $12,000; gift cards and $500 cash each from the Bank of The Bahamas.
“You made an entire nation proud,” Vaughn Delaney, deputy managing director at BOB said.
“We watched each of you – Chris, Demetrius, Michael and Ramon, with our hearts in our throats and our hopes in you – and you delivered. We at BOB are proud to deliver to you in return, as we promised, keeping our commitment of $10,000 sponsorship for the men’s 4×400 relay team and an appeal that raised another $2,000.”
The athletes expressed their gratitude to BOB and promised more gold medals for the country in the future.
“Thanks BOB; this means a lot to us, said Chris Brown, who ran the first leg of the relay. “It is nice to be shown this kind of appreciation after putting your body through so much.”
“I am very grateful to BOB,” added anchor Ramon Miller. “We will continue to work hard and hopefully win more gold medals for The Bahamas.”
Ahead of their reception at the BOB, the men were the special guests at the House of Assembly where parliamentarians passed a resolution honouring their accomplishments.
They will next be treated to a special luncheon at Government House today, and then they will be the special guests at a luncheon hosted by the prime minister on Friday.
A motorcade and grand celebration are also planned for Saturday.
