It took fire fighters and local residents three days to do it, but officials said a fire that was burning in the Berry Islands is finally under control.
Officials said the fire started early on Tuesday April 1 and was finally contained on Friday April 4.
According to a release, residents were mobilised and used their own limited water resources but were unsuccessful in containing the blaze.
However, Berry Islanders are now requesting that the Member of Parliament for that island Dr. Perry Gomez provide two additional water trucks and water pumps in order to provide continuous water supply.
Fire officials have meantime explained that this time of year is considered a dry season and subsequently has scheduled training for members of that community in the coming weeks.
Government officials also announced plans to review a proposal to identify appropriate land for the establishment of a government complex to include health facilities on Great Harbour Cay.
