The team at Ben and Jerry’s in Marina Village wasted little effort in starting off their community work in 2013 at the Sister2Sister Walk in Paradise.
As a few hundred men, women and children from New Providence and the Florida area via the Norwegian Sky Cruise ship descended on to Paradise Island for the annual cancer support and fundraiser, the managers and soda jerks scooped into action to support.
As the proud participants made their way back to the site near Carmine’s, the team scooped over 250 free servings to cool them down.
Also partaking in the festivities were the choirs from the Meridian School, Queen’s College and Kingsway Academy.
“It was a great success and was very well organised. The participants received their free ice-cream without a hitch. Our team is grateful for the opportunity to be able to participate in this event, and also to be able to meet and greet with the participants/survivors,” said Manager Tanya Edgecombe.
“Ben & Jerry’s’ philosophy is to give back and our local team was glad to be able to give back to such an organisation in this small way. Thanks to our Santino Russell, Mary Peterson, Cleveland Clarke, Rachael Moss, Frandz Damas-Crooks, assistant restaurant manager, who made it so memorable.”
With Walk in Paradise complete, Ben and Jerry’s is looking forward to the other events they will sponsor, including Hope Worldwide, Ride for Hope and St. Ambrose.
