Bahamas to spread the love in NYC with signature romance event

What better way to explore The Islands of The Bahamas, than with love? Sixty engaged couples hoping for an unforgettable destination wedding have been invited by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT) in conjunction with Brides Magazine to celebrate their love down-home style at Bahamian Date Night in New York City (NYC) on June 2.

For one night, the incredible 620 Loft & Garden event center will be transformed into little Bahamas, allowing couples to enjoy the best of the islands without leaving NYC.

Couples will have the opportunity to sample Bahamian delicacies prepared by celebrity chef, Simeon Hall; sip on signature drinks like the spicy goat pepper margarita, all while being entertained by the sounds of Ira Storr Band, Puzzle and Colours Junkanoo Group.

The Islands of The Bahamas are also determined to set the mood by giving the lovebirds a chance to date as if they were in The Bahamas with an out-island date under the stars and a high energy date similar to what might be experienced in Nassau or Grand Bahama.

According to the latest statistics in 2014, Romance Tourism brought in over 76,000 stopover visitors to The Bahamas and Freda Malcolm; Director of Romance is hoping that more people will make the decision to fall in love in The Bahamas.

“We are hoping to increase those numbers year after year with innovative and exciting initiatives like Date Night,” Malcolm said. “We won the 2015 World Travel Award for World’s Leading Wedding Destination, and we will continue to send the message that The Islands of The Bahamas is the premiere destination in the world for romance.”

As if the date night adventures aren’t enough, the event will be filled with experience stations allowing attendees to play dating games while being immersed in Bahamian culture. There is also a huge surprise planned for the evening.

This will also be a nostalgic rekindling of love for several couples that were married in The Bahamas and are now celebrating their first to fifth-year anniversary.

The event promises to remind couples of why they fell in love.

Date Night is one of several events hosted by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism during Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Caribbean Week.

Caribbean Week is the largest regional tourism activity in New York.
