Atlanta officials are probing the recent death of a 24-year-old Bahamian female who was killed while on her way from work.
Consul General to The Bahamas in Atlanta Randy Rolle Jr. says officials in Atlanta have a close working relationship with The Bahamas therefore he’s confident any details of the crime will be released as soon as possible.
”It’s an ongoing police investigation. The ministry is on top of the situation. We’ve been in contact with not only her family but also the police officials here in Atlanta,” he said.
“We will work with the family to lend whatever support we can and where they think we can help,” Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell said.
“There is a good working relationship with the city of Atlanta police and the Bahamian government and so we are quite confident that any details needed they will pass onto the ministry.”
Smith was shot in Atlanta sometime around 5.30 a.m. last week Wednesday.
The shooting incident occurred in the Cascades neighborhood, located in South West Atlanta.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, Smith was on her way home from work at Amazon, when she was shot.
Investigators say it is not clear if she was targeted or it was a random shooting.
While detectives were investigating the crime scene, nearly 30 shell casing were found on the ground in the area.
Smith was found with two shots to the head.
