Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Mario Bowleg confirmed that all suspensions of any athletes have been lifted and punishment for any infractions will be levied in another way.
This confirmation follows social media reports earlier this week which alluded that Bahamian sprinter Terrance Jones Jr. had been suspended.
“I spoke to the president this morning. I think they had a meeting with his executives and came to conclusion that they would find other means of ways to levy any punishment to the athletes for any breach that was made. All suspension has been lifted and all athletes is from my understanding is free to partake in any event that is upcoming,” Minister Bowleg said.
The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) Executive Board announced on Wednesday evening that all suspensions as it relates to Bahamian athletes and that all matters of misconduct have been dealt with internally with possible sanctions to follow.
