Arraignment Postponed Following Missing Files

The arraignment of three men in connection with a large firearm seizure was postponed yesterday after files were recalled.
Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt told the courtroom that the matter was “out of her hands” and she would not be able to arraign the suspects due to missing files.

Three men, which include a 21-year-old of Soldier Road, a 35-year-old of Malcolm Road, and a 32-year-old of Sea Breeze Drive, were expected to be arraigned.

According to police, one of those men is a law enforcement officer.

The men are accused of importing illegal firearms into the country. They were found last Tuesday in possession of nearly 10 unlicensed firearms including two black Hi-Point, four Smith and Wessons, two pistols and other weapons with the intent to supply.

Another suspect, a 38-year-old woman of St. Lucia was also accused with conspiracy.

The men were remanded to prison. No date on a later arraignment was given.
