Another Fox Hill Murder –97 Murders Recorded

The Fox Hill community was again the scene of deadly bloodshed Tuesday night as 38-year-old Alton John Davis was gunned down on Step Street last night.

This killing did not happen that late nor did it happen in an area unfamiliar with this kind of violence.

In fact, just over the weekend, a man was gunned down on Abner Street, Fox Hill.

In Tuesday night’s murder police said Davis was riding his bicycle north along Adderley Street when two assailants came out of bushes from the eastern side of the street.

One of the assailants was wielding a handgun opened fire on him striking him multiple times to the upper body.

“Officers responded to the scene where they met a 38-year-old male resident of Kelly Lane suffering from an apparent gunshot injury to the body,” Central Detective Unit Head Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle said. “EMS responded to this scene and attempted to render assistance to this male but eventually rendered him lifeless.”

Police said they are now on the hunt for Jamal Gibson who also uses the name “Eggy.”

This suspect lives on Armbrister Street and is wanted for questioning in connection with this matter as well as the murder of Ricardo Moss that occurred at Gray’s Terrace on September 27.

Despite several murders being committed in the area over the past few weeks, Chief Superintendent Rolle said he does not believe that Fox Hill is a crime haven.

“I don’t share that view,” he added. “I don’t share the view that Fox Hill is a crime riddled area. This area has been pretty quiet as other areas have been. Every now and then we have flare ups that are usually because of something else going on. What we seek to do is get to the underlying issue that ultimately leads to death.”

According to Journal records, the murder count now stands at 97.
