“Break barriers! Promote success” was the theme of the 5th annual Andros Business Outlook

The event which featured many speakers seeks to bring awareness to the challenges of Androsian economy.

One of the speakers Jeff Birch, past president of the Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board, said given the history of Andros, there is an amazing opportunity there for economic growth.

“Andros is well poised, we’re not fixing a problem in my opinion; as we’ve not done something wrong. We just don’t have a lot of development. So, if we start development and we do it in the right way, with transparency and with the government, I think we can really have Andros to grow to be what it needs to be,” Birch said.

Birch said he thinks that every Androsian is not against development,  but simply very protective of Andros’ environment.

Noting that Andros holds a gem, in that it has one of the few great barrier reefs in the world, he said Andros should be known as the nature island and not just an out island.

Birch told participants that the most fundamental thing is to educate the public on the wonders of the Bahamas as a whole, then move to out island promotions, which will in turn bring business to Andros.
