An American cruise ship visitor, who was expected to leave The Bahamas yesterday afternoon, has drowned in West Grand Bahama, police said.

The 61-year-old Pennsylvania resident arrived in Grand Bahama yesterday morning.

Police were notified about the incident at 12:21 p.m. yesterday.

Police were called to the Deadman’s Reef area where the female visitor, along with a family member and other guests, were snorkelling.

Police said the visitor, who has not yet been identified, experienced problems breathing.

She was later taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital in an ambulance where a doctor on duty pronounced her dead.
