Jaws dropped in the Supreme Court as a man was sentenced for the abetment of rape on Monday morning.
Vincent Brown, 54, of Potter’s Cay Dock was sentenced to two years and seven months for the abetment of rape of now t37-year-year-old Loretta Farrington.
According to reports, in December 2014, Brown aided Teo Delancy with the rape of Farrington shortly after midnight.
Farrington had requested Delancy’s permission to spend the night on his boat along with three other men.
In a statement issued to police, Farrington said shortly after she fell asleep, she awoke in a struggle with her attackers.
Brown, who has already spent four and a half years in prison for this matter, on Monday, changed his plea to guilty.
He told Justice Vera Watkins that he had nothing else to say but simply wanted to “get it over with.”
Brown was initially sentenced to seven years in prison but time he spent remanded was deducted along with one year for him pleading guilty and an additional year because his matter had to be retried.
Brown now has only seven months left in prison before he is a free man.
Brown’s accomplice Teo Delancy was also convicted of the abetment of rape back in July 2014.
He was also sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
