The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture made a presentation to various Grand Bahama Junkanoo group leaders on Friday, July 17, 2015, rewarding them for their participation in the New Year’s Junkanoo Parade.

Present for the occasion was Dr. Michael Darville, Minister for Grand Bahama, who congratulated the participating groups.

“We are very pleased with the celebrations that took place last year and we are quite happy that going forward, celebrations will be bigger and better,” Dr. Darville said.

The minister commended all leaders for their consistent participation and thanked each and every group on the behalf of The Ministry of Grand Bahama and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture for taking part in the celebrations, ensuring that Junkanoo was successful.

Director of Culture Dr. Linda Moxey-Brown congratulated all Junkanoo groups and stated that she is looking forward to the 2016 celebrations.

Groups represented were Division A: Swingers, New Life Classic Dancers, Platinum Knights, Kingdom Culture, and Superstar Rockers; and Division B: Bushwhackers and Sting.
