The trial of former Free National Movement (FNM) Senator John Bostwick who was charged back in May for illegal possession of ammunition was yesterday postponed to December.

Mr. Bostwick, 42, was arrested on May 17 ahead of boarding a flight at the Grand Bahama International Airport after authorities reportedly found 10 live rounds of .22 ammunition in his back pack.

The ammunition was spotted by airport officials as Mr. Bostwick’s bag was being scanned through the airport’s X-ray security system.

Mr. Bostwick who was headed to New Providence, reportedly admitted that the bag belonged to him.

Following his arrest, Mr. Bostwick’s appointment to the senate was later revoked.

In court Monday, the prosecution requested more time to prepare noting that some of the interview statements were still not prepared.

Magistrate Andrew Forbes who is presiding over the matter also took into consideration that many of the witnesses would have to be flown into the capital from Grand Bahama and would need at least a month’s notice.

Mr. Bostwick’s attorney and father John H. Bostwick, QC, agreed with the delay and noted that the defence had still not received a number of witness statements.

The matter will resume on December 15.
