Homicide detectives found themselves scrambling from one bloody scene to the next after a spree of shootings between Sunday night and Monday morning claimed the lives four people within a matter of hours, prompting authorities to again urge Bahamians to stop taking matters into their own hands.

In the most recent incident, it was around 8:45 Monday morning when an attempt to transfer funds for a local web shop had ended tragically for a man who had been gunned down in an attempted armed robbery through Sapodilla Boulevard in Pinewood Gardens.

On the bloody scene was the victim’s bullet riddled car that had crashed into the wall of a nearby home.

The victim’s security guard had also collided into another resident’s wall.

Head of The Central Detective Unit Superintendent Paul Rolle was on the scene.

“He had just collected the funds from a local establishment in Nassau Village and was headed towards East Street to another location to collect funds; he was being followed by a vehicle that was his covering,” Mr. Rolle said.

“Persons in what we believe to be a small gold Honda, they were riding behind, they sped up, pulled across and blocked their path, two occupants got of this vehicle and began discharging shots into the vehicle that was in front, hitting the driver. They then reached in and took a box with some personal effects, the money that he collected was not taken, that remained in the vehicle. The driver that was providing security exited the vehicle took out his shot gun and fired shots at the culprits.”

The victim has since been identified as Prince Prudent, who according Bahama Journal sources – buried his brother last week Saturday.

Among the Prudent’s visibly distraught family members was an eyewitness who said that she was driving east on Sapodilla Boulevard just moments before the hail of gunfire.

“The other car was coming on the main strip and both of us stop and when I came across the corner that’s when I heard the gun shots and I saw the two guys exit the car, opened the driver’s door and shot him twice,” she said.

“I don’t know what the government is going to do but I believe that they need to start hanging, these boys are out of order. They don’t care about any body’s life that was an innocent young man they took his life and still didn’t get what they wanted. Thank God that we were across the corner because we could have gotten caught up in the shooting.”

Only hours earlier, around 3:30 a.m. officers headed to Cordeaux Avenue following reports that a similar scene had played out there.

When they arrived, officers found a woman and a man suffering from gunshot wounds at Toya’s Bar and Lounge.

According to Superintendent Rolle, the bar’s owner – 35-year-old Latoya Williams died in hospital soon after.

The victim is the daughter of veteran radio personality Tony Williams.

According to police reports, the suspect was denied entry to the club due to a prior altercation with another male it was then that the suspect fired shots into the club with a hand gun.

Around 2:30 a.m. Monday, officers rushed to Blue Hill Road opposite the entrance to Yellow Elder Gardens where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, she was the passenger of a trial motorbike during an armed robbery.

Blood stains from the tragedy were still in clear view late Monday morning police have since arrested a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman at a Yellow Elder home where officers recovered the stolen motorcycle and the vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery.

Also killed this past weekend was 23-year-old Brandon Russell.

Authorities noted that the incident happened around 8:30 on Sunday night in the area of Ronald Avenue in the Chippingham area.

The victim, an employee of Breezes Resort, was found lifeless in front of an apartment.

His alleged killers reportedly escaped in a black vehicle.

Superintendent Rolle acknowledges this was a very busy weekend for he and his team, adding that these acts of crime shed light on a glaring issue in our society where the value of life is no longer respected.

The murder count now stands at 75.
