A 59-year-old man died in a house fire that occurred Friday night, police confirmed Saturday.
The Bahama Journal spoke with the brother of the deceased who was identified by the name “Kevin.”
“When I came home I saw the place was on fire but I didn’t know he was inside the house,” Kevin’s brother Herbert said yesterday.
“I left and came back and was told that police had found a body. He was real sociable and was well known and went by the name “Showtime.”
Herbert said his brother did not have any children but lived along with another brother in the house that was destroyed.
“He never used to bother anybody,” he said.
“The way how it looks, it just looks kind of funny to me. I don’t think anyone would want to harm my brother though.”
According to reports, shortly before 10:00 p.m., firefighters were called to a house fire at Eden Street and Wallace Road, Chippingham.
On arrival at the scene firefighters found an eleven-room home fully engulfed in flames.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the man’s body inside the home.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Superintendent Walter Evans told the Bahama Journal that there was no update on this latest incident up to press time and could not confirm whether police suspected arson.
Investigations are ongoing.
