Attorneys from local law firm Graham Thompson participated in an “Americas Anti-Corruption Roundtable,” comprising expert discussion on issues related to risk exposure, trends, policies, avoidance strategies, planning and compliance last month in Miami.
The firm co-hosted World Services Group’s (WSG) first annual meeting of the Americas in Miami, Florida from February 19 to February 21, along with the Venezuelan accounting and consulting firm Cifuentes, Lemus and Asociados, S.C., and Hoet Peláez Castillo and Duque, one of Venezuela’s oldest law firms.
WSG is a network of 130 member firms in 115 countries around the globe, representing some of the world’s top providers of professional business services.
The meeting of the Americas brought together three regions within WSG: The Caribbean, Latin America and North America.
Graham Thompson’s Managing Partner Judith Whitehead sits on WSG’s Board of Directors and is the Chair of the Caribbean Regional Council.
Ms. Whitehead explained that this subject was an especially timely one for the region.
“Our client base includes a substantive number of corporate clients and as such, these are particularly timely subjects of immediate interest to them. We are sensitive to their desire for detailed advice on these issues and the roundtable provided an opportunity to hear from both service providers and clients on matters of daily concern,” she said.
WSG, one of the largest professional networks of its kind, facilitates meetings like the Miami conference to expose its membership to distinguished experts in areas of common regional interest, and to exchange critical information across the professional service disciplines.
A core WSG objective is to create new business prospects and expand opportunities for its membership.
Graham Thompson, one of the largest commercial law firms in The Bahamas, was represented at the WSG event by Partners, Judith Whitehead, Linda Beidler-D’Aguilar and Stephen Wilson QC, head of Graham Thompson’s Turks and Caicos Islands office.
Associates attorneys Anastasia Campbell, Sarah Packington and Leonard Whan also attended.
Ms. Whitehead expounded on Graham Thompson’s leadership at the Miami conference, and the significance of the firm’s participation in the even.
“We think it is imperative that all our attorneys are exposed to discussions of this caliber, and are afforded the opportunity to meet important regional players,” she said.
One of the discussions of particular interest to the group of 80 regional delegates was on cyber security threats, presented by Managing Director of Kroll Advisory Solutions and a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent Timothy Ryan.
