The Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) has fully restored electricity supplies to residents in western and eastern New Providence following Monday’s power outage.
Residents were left in the dark for several hours during that blackout.
According to BEC, several units tripped offline at 5:31 p.m.
As a result, several areas in eastern and western New Providence were without electricity.
The corporation dispatched teams to return the units to service and to secure additional generation from units not in service at the time.
BEC says supply was restored to several areas within an hour of the initial outage and supply was fully restored to all areas by 8:30 p.m.
While the cause of the generator trip is still being investigated, BEC maintains that it was an isolated incident and there are no generation issues being experienced at this time.
