A Yellow Elder man who allegedly held up a man before leading police on a high-speed chase early Tuesday morning is now in custody.
According to police, the suspect and several other men held up a man in the Stapledon Gardens area around 1:00 a.m.
The suspects, who were armed with handguns, approached the man and stole his black 2010 Kia vehicle and later sped off.
Police officers, responding to the robbery, spotted the stolen vehicle in the Yellow Gardens area.
When the suspects spotted the officers tailing them they drove off, leading police on a high speed chase.
The suspects eventually crashed into bushes in the Yellow Elder area and fled on foot.
Police managed to capture a 26-year-old man and are now looking for the other suspects.
In other crime news, three teens were arrested for possession of an illegal firearm yesterday.
Officers from the South Central Division who were on patrol spotted the teens in the Dennis Court area acting suspiciously.
When the trio spotted police they ran away.
Officers chased them and that’s when one of the males dropped a backpack, which contained a gun and some ammunition.
The trio was then arrested.
