Eighty-nine illegal Haitian immigrants comprising of 63 females, 25 males and one male chid are being detain in Inagua after they were arrested on Tuesday.
Police reports indicate that around 2:00 p.m. US Coast Guard helicopter officials alerted authorities in Inagua after they spotted the immigrants in a 40ft wooden sloop in waters just off Inagua.
Moments later a team of law enforcement officers comprising of Immigration, Defense Force and Police Officers went to the location at sea 22 miles off Inagua called Sandy Point, where they arrested the immigrants and brought them to the shore with the assistance of the US Coastguard.
Investigations are ongoing.

Police are investigating what led to an 18-year-old woman being stabbed.
Police said the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. the woman was in a vehicle with a male friend on Eastern Road when they got into an argument resulting in the woman being stabbed in the head.
The woman was taken to hospital via ambulance where she is detained in stable condition.
Police are seeking the whereabouts of the male.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man is in custody after he was arrested for Possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Tuesday.
According to reports, DEU officers – acting on information – conducted a search of the suspect on Fowler Street off East Street and uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
